Fusion and quasi-fission dynamics in nearly-symmetric reactions

چکیده
Some nearly-symmetric fusion reactions are systematically investigated with the improved quantum molecular dynamics (ImQMD) model. By introducing two-body inelastic scattering in the Fermi constraint procedure, the stability of an individual nucleus and the description of fusion cross sections at energies near the Coulomb barrier can be further improved. Simultaneously, the quasi-fission process in 154Sm+160Gd is also investigated with the microscopic dynamics model for the first time. We find that at energies above the Bass barrier, the fusion probability is smaller than 10−5 for this reaction, and the nuclear contact-time is generally smaller than 1500 fm/c. From the central collisions of Sm+Gd, the neutron-rich fragments such as 164,165Gd, 192W can be produced in the ImQMD simulations, which implies that the quasi-fission reaction could be an alternative way to synthesize new neutron-rich heavy nuclei. ∗Electronic address: [email protected]

He/he Production Ratios by Tetrahedral Symmetric Condensation
The present paper treats application of the EQPET (Electronic Quasi-Particle Expansion Theory) model for TSC (Tetrahedral Symmetric Condensate) of H/D mixed systems for Pd host metal. Production ratios of He/He for multi-body fusion reactions in H/D mixed TSC systems are calculated as a function of H/D mixing rate. The model is further extended to treat direct nuclear interactions between host-...
متن کاملStudy of fusion reactions forming Cf nuclei
The formation of a compound nucleus in different projectile and target combinations is a powerful method for investigating the fusion process. Recently, the dominance of quasi-fission over fusion-fission has been inferred for S+Pb in comparison to S+Pb; both reactions lead to the compound nucleus Cf. The mass and angle distributions of the fission fragments from these reactions were studied in ...
متن کاملTheory of competition between fusion and quasi-fission in a heavy fusing system
A theory of the competition between fusion and quasi-fission in a heavy fusing system is proposed, which is based on a master equation and the two-center shell model. Fusion and quasi-fission arise from a diffusion process in an ensemble of nuclear shapes evolving towards the thermal equilibrium. The master equation describes the diffusion of the nuclear shapes due to quantum and thermal fluctu...
متن کاملDynamical collective potential energy landscape: its impact on the competition between fusion and quasi-fission in a heavy fusing system
Abstract. A realistic microscopically-based quantum approach to the competition between fusion and quasi-fission in a heavy fusing system is applied to several reactions leading to 256No. Fusion and quasi-fission are described in terms of a diffusion process of nuclear shapes through a dynamical collective potential energy landscape which is initially diabatic and gradually becomes adiabatic. T...
متن کاملFusion and fission pathways of vesicles from amphiphilic triblock copolymers: a dissipative particle dynamics simulation study.
Dissipative particle dynamics (DPD) simulations are employed to study the fusion and fission dynamics of polymeric vesicles formed from amphiphilic triblock copolymers. The amphiphilic molecule is built from two hydrophilic blocks and a hydrophobic middle block. Two different pathways for both fusion and fission processes of two-component vesicles with polymer-based symmetric membranes have bee...
